Plastic is a familiar component of modern living, used in all sorts of packaging and  household and commercial applications. Whilst the benefits of low cost, light  weight, strength, imperviousness to gas and water, transparency, sealability and  printability are highly regarded, the very strength and durability which makes plastic  such a useful and economic material can be a major problem when disposal is  required. 

SYMPHONY ENVIRONMENTALhave developed the  low-cost solution to the worldwide problem caused by millions of tones of plastics accumulating  in the environment – The  Oxo-biodegradableadditive d2w®.

This technology produces plastic which degrades by a process of OXOdegradation.The technology is based on a very small amount of pro-degradant  additive being introduced into the manufacturing process, thereby changing the  behaviour of the plastic. Degradation begins when the programmed-service life is  over (as controlled by the additive composition) and the product is no longer  required.

Oxo-bio plastic will degrade, then biodegrade, to water, CO _2, biomass and trace-elements, on land or sea, in the light or dark, in heat or cold, in whatever timescale is required.  It leaves NO fragments NO methane and NO harmful residues. There is little or no extra cost, and during its service-life strength and other qualities are the same as ordinary plastic.

Oxo-bio plastics are made from a by-product of oil (comprising less than 5% of the oil barrel), which used to be wasted by flare-off. They are also lighter and less bulky than paper, glass, or other alternatives. This makes the life-cycle cost very low. In addition, the use of oxo-bio plastic avoids usage of land and water resources which drives up the cost of food for people and livestock.

 d2w® products assist the reduction of the visual environmental pollution with wraps, especially packs. While decomposing, the d2w® products, unlike the products made of natural ingredients such as paper or compostable wraps, emit carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas) very slowly.
